Another in the "Little Man: Phears, Phobias and Phealings" series.
Depression is something that at one time or another hits most of us. Some people suffer forever with it. About a year ago a friend was perscribed as Manic. Didn't come as a huge surprise but it still hurt. With him in mind, I shot this. He tried to explain to me once how much despair he felt when he was on the down slide. One of the analogies he used was "I feel like I am trying to crawl out of a toilet". That one stuck with me... I don't remember much about the lighting so it must have been something as simple as one flash. The DOF is the important part here. All I wanted was the head. I wanted focus to be purely on the head making eye contact with the viewer. Some might want more. I can understand it but I like it shallow... Enjoy... One more after this.
