I was going through my images the other day looking for an image a client has requested and I came across this one. I've never posted it here (or many other places for that matter) and wanted it in my gallery. It's sister shot was one of the earliest pieces I posted on dA so I just pasted my description from that shot into this one... Enjoy. Man I remember how cold that day was. I shiver thinking about it...

Taken in Parke County Indiana at the Manfield mill falls. This is the secondary falls downstream a bit. It was taken just as the sun was waking. It was brutally cold that day (bout -25F with windchill) and my camera almost didn't work. The wonderful thing about this falls is that on the right day, with the right atmosphere the sun almost explodes with color. I spend 2 weeks here waiting for this moment.

I have enhanced the colors a bit (adobe profile, digital velvia action), and dodged and burned it some also.

Hope you enjoy this. I like shooting everything. Falls are a weakness. One of these day's I am going to have to specialize I guess...

Canon1D, 300mm F4, F16, 1.5 seconds. Polarizer. ISO 200. Custom WB.

Yeah, it's funny reading comments from years ago when I was just trying to figure this 'art' thing out. To hell with specializing. I love shooting nature images as much as studio ones. I'm not the greatest at them for sure but I do enjoy the heck out of it...

Excellent shot. I imagine if it were all the same orange colour it might look a bit like flowing fire.
