Ok, like, I was reading $Moonbeam13 journal this am brought up many questions. I would like to add 5 to them...

1) Since when is squashing a pair of boobs in a camera frame an "artistic nude"? What's even more scarey is that those shots get faved more times than most real art on this site. Boys between the ages of 14-18 should not be allowed to fave in that category.

2) Since when is taking a picture of a sky a conceptual shot? The only one who can call a shot like that conceptual is mother nature since she created the damn stuff. Got a shot like this with a fancy title? Put it in the nature gallery. It's where it belongs.

3) Got a picture of a beautiful girls face with wonderful makeup and a great smile with a really cool, hip title that oooozes conceptuality like 'the eyes of joy' or some bullocks like that? Guess what? It's going to the portrait gallery.

4) Ever been out shooting and when you get home and open it it's a really cool shot and then you think of a title for it and shove it in the conceptual gallery because you think no one will know that it isn't really a conceptual shot but a shot of a bird/sunset/girl/guy/plane/hand/foot/whatever? Guess what? I'll know and away it will go...

5) How is Chris Katan famous? Can someone for the love of god explain that too me????


So Davemo (you ask) who are you to judge what is conceptual and what isn't? Well they put me in charge of this gallery for 1 year so they must think I have a clue. The next person in can do what they want, but for the next year it's up to me.

This is MY definition for once and for all: The thought comes before the image. A shot of a sky is not conceptual. Sorry, IMO it's just not. A tree? Nope. A bird flying through the air? No. Why? because I doubt anyone goes out to shoot a bird with the forethought of 'I'm going to create a conceptual shot of a bird'. Maybe some do, but I'm thinking 99% of the time they don't.

You can title an image anything you want. You can hook any story to it you want. Just put it in the right gallery darn it. Believe me, if people want to see sunsets they will search the nature gallery. Birds? The bird gallery.
